Book Launch & A Photograph Exhibition: Now and Then
As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the University of Jaffna, the Department of Fine Arts compiled and published a commemorative volume titled Veerkalai Virtual (Selling the Roots), bringing together newspaper articles, scholarly writings, and archival documents related to heritage awareness. Alongside thispublication, a photography exhibition titled KKS Road: Now and Thenwas organized, showcasing 52 photographs that juxtaposed images taken before 2003 with contemporary shots captured in 2025 by final-year student R. Jasotharan. The exhibition offered a reflective space for viewers to compare past and present landscapes, contemplate the socio-cultural and infrastructural transformations over time, and reimagine the essence of familiar places through a photographic lens. The book was launched on 22nd April, and the exhibition was on view from 22nd to 26th April in the lobby of the Arts Faculty building.
